Front-of-House Manager
The role requires you to oversee all front-of-house duties, greeting and engaging with visitors on the door to safety and security. You will train, manage, and motivate the front-of-house (FOH) team. Responsibilities include task allocation, staff development and motivation, timekeeping, administration, and reporting.
You will work with the Dennis Severs’ House team to ensure the smooth and professional running of the business. This will include the implementation of health-and-safety procedures, administration, dealing with visitor enquiries and maintaining the meticulous presentation and cleaning standards of the house, plus customer service across all channels. You will also be called on to help with private events, photo shoots and filming at the house when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of the day-to-day front-of-house operations.
- Liaise with the Operations Department to oversee the implementation of health-and-safety policies and procedures.
- Manage front-of-house staff and provide human resources support including recruitment, training and development.
- Support the Operations Department in the security, care, and collection management of the house.
- Undertake administrative duties including filing, answering emails and responding to visitor queries.
- Maintain services including the booking systems, the setting up of events (virtual or physical), room hire for photo shoots and filming, and assist with the delivery of activities and tours.
Job Requirements
- This is a pivotal role at Dennis Severs’ House and a unique opportunity to be part of its small, dedicated team. It requires someone collaborative yet motivated who will strive to provide guests to the house with the best visitor experience possible.
- Must be available to work 25 hours per week including weekends and evenings shifts.
- Experience in front-of-house or hospitality is essential.
- Experience of team leadership in a public-facing setting.
- Excellent face-to-face communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Ability to work at a consistently high tempo.
- Ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks.
- Ability to lead the front-of-house team.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
